OGDEN, Utah – Portland State graduate-senior, Cameron Forte earned this week’s Big Sky Conference men’s basketball Player of the Week honor after an impressive pair of games against Idaho and Eastern Washington.
The Tempe, Ariz., native and Georgia transfer scored 55 points, pulled down 25 rebounds, dished six assists and nabbed four steals as the Vikings split a pair of games last week. He went 22-of-31 from the field (.710) and 10-of-13 from the free-throw line in games against Idaho and Eastern Washington (.769).
Forte led the Vikings in every statistical category in an 80-74 loss to Idaho on Thursday. He scored 23 points, with 16 boards, five assists, four steals and two blocks against the Vandals. He went 8-for-11 from the field and 6-for-6 at the charity stripe.
Forte scored 32 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the Vikings 107-91 win over red-hot Eastern Washington on Saturday. He made 14-of-20 from the field and 4-of-7 at the free-throw line against the Eagles, thus improving the Viks’ Big Sky record to 5-9, which puts them in striking distance of a first-round bye at the Big Sky Conference championship.
Forte is seventh in the conference in scoring (18.4) and second to Weber State’s Joel Bolomboy in rebounding with 9.2 boards per game.
