Justin Calhoun emerging as primary threat for Griz

on

Before committing to Montana, Justin Calhoun was invited to visit Idaho State. ISU hoped they could entice the former Long Beach Poly receiver to play his college ball in Pocatello. After Calhoun’s two-touchdown performance against the Idaho State on Saturday, the woeful program was left wishing Calhoun stayed in Idaho.

A part of a talented young receiving corps that has taken advantage of Montana’s pass-happy offense, Calhoun’s two scores came on highlight reel catches during what has become a pretty typical outing for the freshman receiver.

Calhoun is first on the team in yards receiving and second in catches and touchdown. He has 40 catches for 559 yards and five touchdowns during his redshirt freshman year. Redshirt freshman Jerry Louie-McGee’s 56 receptions leads Montana while sophomore Keenan Curran’s 10 touchdown catches top the team. But Calhoun has been the most consistent of the three, starting every game for the 6-3 Griz.
