Big Sky Conference tournament champion Montana State took a 14 seed into its second consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament and played No. 3-seeded Kansas State in the first round.
KSU shot 58 percent and MSU could not overcome 16 turnovers despite 26 points from junior slasher RaeQuan Battle as the Wildcats pulled away from the Bobcats late, losing 77-65.
Kansas State moves on to face sixth-seeded Kentucky in the second round. MSU’s season finishes with a 25-10 record.
