Aiken earns Big Sky men’s hoops Player of the Week


FARMINGTON, Utah (February 15, 2021) – Eastern Washington junior Kim Aiken Jr. was named the Big Sky Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the first time after averaging a double-double last week in two road victories over Montana State.

In the two games combined, Aiken Jr. averaged 16 points and 10.5 rebounds shooting 47.4 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from three-point range, and 100 percent from the free throw line.

Eastern Washington broke a school record on Thursday shooting 96.4 percent from the free throw line as a team. Aiken Jr. scored 20 points and was 8-of-8 from the free throw line to help the Eagles break the record. He also had eight rebounds and three assists in the 93-77 victory.

He recorded his second double-double of the season and 18th of his career in Saturday’s 85-69 win with 12 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, and one steal.

With the conference sweep over Montana State, the Eagles have now won seven games straight and sit atop the Big Sky standings with a 9-2 record in conference play.
