Big Sky men’s hoops tourney: Weber State rips Montana, advances to semis

For the ninth time in 12 years, Weber State and Montana squared off in the Big Sky Conference men’s basketball tournament. Entering this season, UM had won seven times in the last eight years in the postseason matchups between the two perennial Big Sky powers.

Thursday, Montana mounted a 12-2 lead before Weber blitzed the Griz on the way to a 68-56 win to move into Friday’s semifinals. The Wildcats will play top-seeded Montana State. Montana’s season ends in 18-14.

Following the game, Weber State head coach Randy Rahe, freshman forward Dillon Jones and senior guard Koby McEwen, plus Montana head coach Travis DeCuire along with sophomore guards Brandon Whitney and Robby Beasley III addressed the media.
