Bobcat spikers down Griz in four sets

The Montana State volleyball team battled back in the third set on Thursday night against preseason Big Sky Conference favorite Idaho State on Thursday night. First-year MSU head coach JJ Riley said it was something to build on.

On Saturday, Montana State earned Riley his first rivalry win as the Bobcats downed Montana in four sets. Freshman Natalie Passeck notched a team-high 15 kills to pace the Bobcats. Junior Loni Kreun and senior Natalee Godfrey totaled 11 and 10 kills, respectively as the Bobcats cruised to a (12-25), 25-20, 25-21, 25-22 win in front of 1,555 at Shroyer Gym.

Montana hit .476 in the first set and Montana State hit just .033 before the Bobcats caught fire. Senior setter Katie Harrington dished out 43 assists as MSU hit .227 overall, including .467 in the third set and .333 in the fourth set. Kasey Altman paced the Bobcat defense with 13 digs.

Hannah Sackett led Montana with 16 kills despite hitting just .182. The Griz hit .168 overall despite 22 assists from Raegan Lindsey and 19 assists from Rachel DeAarman.
