on

CHICAGO – Sept. 17, 2018 –– Have you caught your breath yet?

It was offense, offense, offense across the FCS this past week, so even players and teams who posted record-setting performances had plenty of company.

Southeast Missouri running back Marquis Terry had the most eye-catching individual performance, however. On Monday, he was joined by McNeese’s B.J. Blunt, Sacramento State’s Owen Hoolihan and Albany’s Dev

Holmes as the STATS FCS National Players of the Week for Week 3 games through Sept. 15.

NATIONAL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Marquis Terry, Southeast Missouri, RB, Sr., 5-7, 180, Atlanta

Southern Illinois players may not believe Terry had an upset stomach before the “War for the Wheel.” Not after he set Ohio Valley Conference records for rushing yards (311) and all-purpose yards (438) and scored four touchdowns in Southeast Missouri’s 48-44 win. Terry carried the ball 30 times and scored on runs of 74, 23, 11 and 10 yards. He also caught one pass for 13 yards and returned five kicks for 114 yards.

Honorable Mention: Raidarious Anderson, WR, Alcorn State; Kenji Bahar, QB, Monmouth; Johnathan Brown, QB, Eastern Illinois; Nehari Crawford, WR, Duquesne; Shelton Eppler, QB, Northwestern State; Tom Flacco, QB, Towson; Ryan Fulse, RB, Wagner; Grant Kraemer, QB, Drake; Ja’Quan Keys, RB, Indiana State; JaJuan Lawson, QB, Rhode Island; Joe Protheroe, FB, Cal Poly; Aaron Shampklin, RB, Harvard; Jake Soslow, PK, Penn

NATIONAL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

B.J. Blunt, McNeese, LB, Sr., 6-1, 220, New Orleans

As McNeese beat Southland Conference rival Nicholls 20-10 in the STATS FCS Game of the Week, Blunt was a one-man wrecking crew, including nine tackles (six solos), four tackles for loss and three sacks. On the game’s opening kickoff, he recovered a fumble on the Nicholls 16, and it led to a Cowboys touchdown on the next play. He also had one quarterback hurry.

Honorable Mention: Steven Crowder, LB, Eastern Kentucky; Jared Folks, LB, ETSU; Evan Holm, CB, North Dakota; Sully Laiche, DL, Nicholls; Joe Lang, S, Holy Cross; Shayne Lawless, LB, Stony Brook; Jesse Nemerowicz, LB, Bryant; Elijah Richardson, LB, Florida A&M; Donte Small, CB, Morgan State; Landon Stice, LB, Weber State; Brett Zanotto, LB, Duquesne

NATIONAL SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Sacramento State punter Owen Hoolihan/ by Sac State athletics

Owen Hoolihan, Sacramento State, P, Grad Student, 6-1, 170, Oberon, Australia

A graduate transfer from Prairie View A&M, the Aussie import was nearly flawless in Sacramento State’s 28-25 win at Northern Colorado. He pinned the Bears inside their 20-yard line on six of his eight punts. His final punt in the closing seconds of the game was a 50-yarder that backed up the returner and led to a muff, which was recovered by Sac State. UNC’s average field position after Hoolihan’s punts was its 14.

Honorable Mention: Dejon Brissett, KR/WR, Richmond; Corey Coppola, ST, Davidson; Christian Jacquemin, PK/P, Jackson State; Denzel Knight, KR, Wagner; Nick Madonia, PK, Tennessee Tech; Matt Reyna, KR/WR, Eastern Illinois; Melvin Rouse II, KR/WR, Yale; Aaron Turk, KR/DB, Morehead State; Ivy Wall, P, Southeastern Louisiana

Honorable Mention: Rashawn Allen, RB, Lehigh; Dakota Caton, KR/WR, Indiana State; Isaac Foster, RS, Kennesaw State; Quay Holmes, RB/KR, ETSU; Isaiah Ifanse, RB, Montana State; Robert Riddle, QB, Mercer
