Talkin’ Schmidt: UM’s budget mess, over-coaching & can the Griz surge down the stretch?

Andrew Schmidt joins Colter Nuanez for a Halloween edition of Talkin’ Schmidt, and the conversation starts off the field. The guys dig into the University of Montana’s budget problems, with enrollment flat and faculty being cut while millions go to administration instead of the athletic department, and why the Bobcats have dominated the all-sports race for the last decade.

Schmidt says the Griz don’t need an A-plus defense, just a C instead of an F, and that Montana should feed Eli Gillman, while Colter wonders if elite defense is dead in the Big Sky in the transfer portal era. Plus: is the Griz defense being reorganized behind closed doors, do coaches over-coach with endless formations and sleeping at the office, and can Montana find two more stops a game, win at Eastern Washington and surge down the stretch?
