OGDEN, Utah (January 9, 2017) – North Dakota senior, Quinton Hooker, picked up this week’s Big Sky Conference player of the week honor after leading the Fighting Hawks to two straight conference wins last week.

Hooker, a native of Brooklyn Park, Minn., averaged 21.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and four assists in wins over Northern Arizona and Southern Utah. In Thursday’s 68-63 win over NAU, Hooker scored 11 of his game-best 20 points in the final 3:19 to prevent a NAU rally. He finished with 8-of-15 from the field and 2-of-4 from the free-throw line. He also added four rebounds and two assists.

In Saturday’s 95-65 win over Southern Utah, Hooker led the way again with 23 points, six assists and seven boards. He was part of a defensive effort that held SUU to a season-low 26 percent from the field. He scored 11 of his 23 points in the first half as UND handed SUU its first Big Sky loss of the season.

He finished the week shooting 57.1 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from behind the arc. Hooker, the 2016-17 Big Sky preseason MVP, also picked up his first weekly award of the season.

North Dakota (8-6, 3-1 BSC) hits the road this week with a trip to Montana State on Thursday and a visit to Montana on Saturday.
