OGDEN, Utah (February 5, 2018) – After averaging 36.5 points per game and posting a school record performance, Northern Colorado senior guard Andre Spight has been named the Big Sky Conference men’s Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Spight opened the week Thursday with a 32-point outing in an 88-79 home loss to undefeated Montana. He knocked down five three-pointers and went 11-of-11 from the charity stripe to place him in a tie for ninth all-time in Northern Colorado’s record book for free throws in a single game.

The Burbank, California, product followed that performance with a career-best 41 points Saturday to set a new Northern Colorado record in an 86-63 victory over Montana State. Spight’s performance tied him for the most points in the Big Sky this season alongside Geno Crandall’s 41 points in North Dakota’s season-opening win against Troy on Nov. 10. In the win over the Bobcats, Spight’s 15 made field goals also set a new school standard while his eight three-pointers moved him into second in the record books.

The 41-point performance ties for 16th in NCAA Division I this season.

Spight has now recorded 30-plus points in four straight home games for the Bears while climbing to third in the Big Sky in scoring with 21.0 points per game. He leads the league with 81 three-point field goals, averaging 3.4 per contest.

On the week, Spight shot 46.9 percent (23-of-49) from the field, 41.9 percent (13-of-31) from long range and 87.5 percent (14-of-16) from the free-throw line. He also averaged 5.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists in his two showings on the week.

Spight also collected the Big Sky weekly honor on Dec. 26.
