Hauck’s return highlights opening practice of Griz spring football

on

Fifteen years after his first spring practice as the head coach of the Montana Grizzles, Bobby Hauck was back pacing the frozen turf at Washington-Grizzly Stadium Monday as his second term in charge kicked off with the opening of spring ball.

He noticed that some things haven’t changed.

“It’s still snowing in March. We still can’t get on the grass in early March,” joked Hauck, who coached the Griz from 2003 to 2009 and was rehired this offseason to replace Bob Stitt. “…Obviously, it feels good to be back on this particular football field. It’s always good to be back with the team. Everybody’s excited, we’re ready to go and hopefully we can get some good work in.”

The two-hour session in the cold at Wa-Griz may not have been particularly revelatory, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t important for the Griz and their new coaching staff.
