MSU forward cited for misdemeanor theft last month

Montana State men’s basketball player Shikei Blake was cited for misdemeanor theft for shoplifting from a local grocery story in September according to court documents. Parker Gabriel of the Bozeman Daily Chronicle first reported the arrest.

The 22-year-old Blake pleaded guilty to the charges last month in Bozeman Municipal Court. He will be sentenced on November 18, according to the Chronicle.

The theft occurred on September 20 at Town & Country Foods across the street from Brick Breeden Fieldhouse, Montana State’s basketball venue. Montana State second-year head coach Brian Fish declined comment except for to say Blake “committed a violation of team rules” and will be suspended for for one game.

Blake is a 6-foot-7 power forward who transferred to Montana State from Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado in the summer. He is one of eight players in Fish’s second recruiting class.

Montana State opens its 2015 season with an exhibition game against Northwest Indian College in Bozeman on Tuesday night.
