The NCAA denied an immediate eligibility appeal for Konner Frey, a forward on the Montana State men’s basketball team, head coach Brian Fish said on Monday.
Frey transferred to MSU during the summer from Utah Valley, where he played as a non-scholarship player in 2015-16. The appeal requested a waiver of NCAA transfer requirements based on extenuating circumstances.
“I am disappointed but I support the NCAA’s decision,” Fish said. “I’m most disappointed for Konner, but we’ll move forward.” Frey, a 6-6, 200-pound Bountiful, Utah, product, will be eligible to compete in 2017-18.
