Neale’s flexibility, Redd’s emergence gives MSU OL a new look

BOZEMAN — Alex Neale has less responsibility and more responsibility all at once this spring.

On one hand, the Montana State senior offensive lineman is learning to play with his hand on the ground instead of worrying about snapping the football. On the other hand, the two-year starting center turned left guard has become the primary mentor to Zach Redd, the redshirt freshman now tasked with snapping the ball accurately to electric MSU quarterback Chris Murray.

“It’s a little different, I’ll be honest but it’s kind of nice because, like I told the other guys, I don’t want to say less responsibility but to make a call, snap the ball perfectly into Chris’s hands and execute the play perfectly, now I’m just blocking,” Neale said.

“And I think Redd is doing a helluva job. As a freshman, this is his first spring actually taking reps with the 1s. I think he’s doing a great job of picking everything up.”
