MONTANA STATE BOBCATS

PEYTON HANSER- Wide receiver – Billings Central Catholic – Billings, Montana

The Numbers: The 6-foot-4, 200-pound wide receiver and outside linebacker will start on offense at Montana State. As a senior at Billings Central, Hanser wracked up 66 tackles, two sacks and blocked a punt as a linebacker. He caught nine passes for 101 yards and a touchdown in Central’s run-heavy option-oriented offense. He is one of three preferred walk-ons who have signed housing agreements.

The Accolades: Hanser earned Class A all-state honors as an outside linebacker. He received strong interest from Montana, Wyoming — his father Scott’s alma mater — and Washington State, where his older brother starts at outside linebacker, before choosing the Bobcats. The two-time all-conference election is a four-year starter on the basketball team as the Rams try to defend their Class A state title won a season ago.

Academics: Undecided

Hanser on Montana State: “I really liked everything about how they wanted to rebuild the program, where they were at and where they were headed. It was so exciting to see the vision they had for the program.”

Film: Peyton Hanser Highlights

Coach Choate on Hanser: “Peyton is another long, versatile athlete who took over the role that (current Bobcat) Jacob Hadley had at Billings Central. He was a productive player on both sides of the line. We’re going to start him out at wide receiver and he’ll add some depth there for us. He comes from a very good program and was one of the leaders in that program. He comes from a football family, I actually recruited his older brother to Washington State, and his dad was a very good player at Wyoming. He comes from good bloodlines and is another young man who I believe will add value not only to our program but to our campus.”
