OGDEN, Utah Another week of play in the Big Sky Conference further established who the leading contenders for the regular season title are.

Eastern Washington and Montana State are still undefeated, with one-loss Weber State and Idaho sitting right behind them.

For her efforts in leading the Wildcats to a 2-0 record last week, Weber State forward Regina Okoye is this week’s Big Sky Player of the Week in women’s basketball.
Okoye averaged 24 points and ten rebounds a game, as the Wildcats earned home wins over Portland State and Sacramento State. She shot 59 percent from the field, and had two blocks and seven steals.

Against Portland State, Okoye posted a new career high of 28 points and claimed her third double-double on the year with 10 rebounds. She also had five steals against the Vikings.

On Saturday against Sacramento State, Okoye had 20 points and ten rebounds for her fourth double-double on the season.

There were other impressive performances last week in the Big Sky though, like the ones by Montana State’s Peyton Ferris. Ferris averaged 18 points and eight rebounds coming off the bench to lead Montana State to a pair of Big Sky Conference victories and maintain MSU’s half-game advantage over Eastern Washington atop the league standings.

Also, Eastern Washington’s Hayley Hodgins had a splendid week, averaging 24 points in two road games against Northern Arizona and Southern Utah. In an 85-82 win over the Thunderbirds, Hodgins hit six three-point shots.

Others nominated include: Geraldine McCorkell, Idaho; Apiphany Woods, Idaho State; Makailah Dyer, North Dakota; Adella Randle-El, Sacramento State; McCalle Feller, Montana; Kayleigh Paplow, Northern Arizona; Pia Jurhar, Portland State; Dari Frandsen, Southern Utah; and Savannah Scott, Northern Colorado.
