OGDEN, Utah – Just four weeks remain in the regular season, as every team in the Big Sky Conference gears up for the stretch-run of the Road To Reno.

Currently, Eastern Washington and Montana State sit atop the conference, with Idaho and Weber State filling out the other top seeds. However, thanks to a six-game winning streak, North Dakota is also in contention for a high seed, as is Montana.

The Lady Griz swept two home games, beating Northern Arizona and Southern Utah, to move up to the sixth spot, currently 1.5-games behind Weber State. For her part in leading Montana to a 2-0 weekend, Lady Griz forward Alycia Sims is this week’s Big Sky Conference Player of the Week.

Sims averaged 23 points on 63.3 percent shooting and 15.5 rebounds to lead Montana to home-court victories over Sacramento State and Portland State. The wins helped the Lady Griz snap a four-game losing streak.

Sims totaled 17 points, 16 rebounds and six assists, all then career highs, in Thursday’s 90-83 victory over the Hornets.

On Saturday, with Montana playing without an injured McCalle Feller, Sims scored a career-high 29 points on 13-of-17 shooting and added 15 rebounds and three blocked shots in the team’s 76-57 win over the Vikings.

There were other players with strong performances over the weekend. For instance, Sacramento State guard Brianna Burgos scored a career high and matched the season high for any Big Sky player with 34 points on nine made 3-pointers against Montana State. She broke the program record for points scored in a Big Sky game and tied the program mark with her nine made three, also tied for the most by a Big Sky player this year.

Also, Weber State’s Deeshyra Thomas had a new career high against Northern Colorado, in a triple overtime victory. Thomas scored 30 points in the second half alone, finishing with 33 points in the win.

Other nominees included: Kian McNair, Portland State; Rebecca Howell, Northern Colorado; Anna Policicchio, Idaho State; Mikayla Ferenz, Idaho; Jasmine Hommes, Montana State; Delaney Hodgins, Eastern Washington; Alyssa Rader, Northern Arizona; Leah Szabla, North Dakota; and Jessica Richardson, Southern Utah.
